Like most moms, my body changed a lot after I had kids. It took me about 5 years to come around to this idea that my body wasn’t going to look like it did when I was 20 and had 3% body fat.
A little backstory
I used to be obsessed with skinny. I didn’t care about healthy or strong. I just wanted to be thin because that’s what I had been my whole life. Before pregnancy and childbirth, I didn’t really have to think about what I was wearing and if it fit right because in a world that worships thin, thin bodies are easy to dress.
In 2017 I started to reshape my thinking. I started to wish for the strength and endurance I had post-children. I started to crave intense workouts and time to think. I threw away my shorts that didn’t fit. I stopped thinking about the S, M, or L on my shirts. And when I started thinking this way I was finally able to accept this alien post-motherhood. I was trying to bake a cake I didn’t ingredients to make. So instead, I started looking at my pantry and realizing I could make a pretty good dish just using the ingredients I had.
I broke up with the idea of skinny. And I started to crave strength.
I’ll be honest, seeing women like Kloe Kardashian and Beyonce with strong bodies that weren’t stick-thin really reshaped my ideals.
At the beginning of 2018, I wrote down a health goal to get serious about exercising regularly and eating well. I had a bad habit of eating fun food: sugar every day, fried food whenever I wanted, Chick-fil-A waffle fries–you name it, I was always down for “treating” myself. But that’s how you get into a trap of thinking you “deserve” food. This was a big thing for me.
At the end of a long day, I would convince myself I deserved a treat for just making it through the day. That mentality will wreck your body and ruin the way you think about food.
I knew I needed to change but I wasn’t ready to tackle it yet.
That’s when Sarah approached me.
A few years before this (before Vea was born) I got addicted to this amazing PiYo class at the gym. The teacher was incredible and I got such a high from being in that class. Her name was Sarah and she has an online health and fitness program called Burn Fat and Feast. She approached me about giving away her program via Instagram. I agreed and she gifted me the program as well.
Before I signed up I asked her a billion questions.
I was so afraid of failing.
I didn’t think I could so something like this. Back when I was addicted to skinny and not committed to eating well, I could never do things like this. You see before I only wanted to fit into my swimsuit. It wasn’t about loving my body or eating well or being strong. It was just about a swimsuit.
After chatting with Sarah about all my fears she assured me, I could do this.
So I went for it.
Without giving too much away about the program, here are the basics:
- You get daily workouts & daily training
- Access to a private Facebook group where everyone is doing the program
- You get food guidelines, but what you eat is up to you
- You get a Feast day once a week where you can eat whatever!! (This was a big deal for me!)
- Sarah is on standby for all of your questions
- There’s a ton of variety, so each day is different with different food goals (This is really what helped me.)
Who’s ready for my before and after pics?? My before pics are such bad quality because I never intended on sharing these.
So how do I feel?
One big problem for me was regulating my blood sugar. I was always having dizzy spells and headaches. I had to eat multiple times a day just so I wouldn’t crash. The problem was, I was eating the WRONG things. I wasn’t eating quality carbs and I was having way too much sugar.
I feel so strong like I could do any class at the gym and survive! It was really hard when I started working out because it really took it out of me. But I paced myself. I knew I would get stronger and eventually I did.
I’m amazed at how I’ve learned to say no to food. I was powerless before, but now I can turn down french fries. YES. I KNOW. CRAZY TALK. I know that french fries aren’t going to fuel me. It’s a bunch of empty calories that aren’t going to help me get to where I want to be–healthy and strong!
And it’s not just me. Sarah has helped hundreds of women achieve their health goals with her online programs. If you are thinking of hiring a nutritionist or trainer, this is a MUCH better option.
What’s your next move?
Maybe you are like me and you really want to be healthier, but you don’t know how. Or maybe you need a plan. Or you just need someone to hold you accountable. That’s where Sarah and her Burn Fat and Feast program can step in.

I’ll be jumping in and doing the program again in a week, so if you want to join me, we can totally do this together!!! I meal prep every week and have a Pinterest board full of healthy meals for you and your fam.
